Just thought I would share.... He was a Great man!!! He will be missed!
Arbun C. "AC" Wilkerson, age 93, passed away Oct. 2, 2009 at the Uintah Basin Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 22, 1915 to Jennings C. and Barbara May Wilkerson. He was the second child born in the frontier town of Neola, Utah. He married Mildred Wyman, she later died. He then married Bertha Emily Hamilton on April 6, 1945 in Roosevelt. He endured many hard times in these rustic early days of the Uintah Basin settlement. Unable to finish the last two years of high school, he became a self-educated man who loved to read. He wrote several historical books, including his history, called Hard Times, and a compilation of his knowledge of the Lost Rhodes Gold Mine.
AC was the Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo's "Legendary Cowboy of the Year" in 1997. He and Bertha later were Grand Marshals in the Lapoint 4th of July Parade. AC was a true cowboy. He spent most of his life running a ranch. He also participated in rodeos and horse shows for many years. He was proud of his trophies from those events and always had them prominently displayed. AC moved around a lot (usually within the Basin), always looking for those greener pastures. Arbun moved Bertha and himself to southern Utah for the winter in recent years. He was a business man and sold everything from candy to cars and real estate. Arbun was always planning a new project, with some in the works on the day of his death.
AC is survived by his wife, Bertha, Roosevelt; children, Virginia May Strong, St. George; Neil C. (Katherine) Wilkerson, Roosevelt; Rex Jay (Connie) Wilkerson, Payson; Ruby Marie (Everett) Woodworth, Duchesne; Shirley Ann Sasaki, West Jordan; Barbara Goodrich, Tridell; Chad Arbun (Tammy) Wilkerson, Mosby, Utah; Louise (James) Lemon, Ioka; Bruce H.
